This is the first novel I have read by K. J. Howe and I will definitely be seeking out the first Thea Paris book in the series, The Freedom Broker. I found I didn’t miss out on anything in Skyjack by not having read the first in the series but I am more than a little curious to read it now.
Thea is a kidnap/hostage negotiator and I warmed to her character immediately. She is escorting two former child soldiers from Africa to England for adoption, when the plane they are travelling on is hijacked over Libya. Immediately Thea becomes involved in the negotiations and with her team they uncover a complicated plot.
The writing is succinct with witty dialogue and the fast moving action kept me involved. Incredibly cleverly plotted and excellent research brings the scenes to life. There are twists and turns throughout.
Thea is a brilliant heroine with an interesting skill set, which is unusual and totally refreshing.
A real page-turner. Excellent read. Highly recommended.
