⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is the first book I have read by Lucy Clarke and I’m wondering how this has happened, as this was an excellent read. I always love it when I find an new author with more many more books to read, so these are all going on my Christmas list.
This is the story of Elle as she is trying to meet a deadline to complete her second novel. Her first was an international bestseller and as a result she lives in a beautiful house, which she has designed, close to her sister as a full-time writer, her dream come true. Well almost.
However, all is not as it seems and it is not as straightforward as it should be. After renting her house out for two weeks, while in France on a writer’s retreat, Elle finds the house has an odd feel to it on her return. As the deadline looms there are unusual things happening all around including in the house and Elle is convinced somebody is causing these problems. The question is who and why?
Unnerving and scary at times with cleverly plotted events left me wondering if Elle is imagining these or if they are really happening. The characters spring into life at every twist and turn with surprises all the way through. I would not want to read this late at night if I was on my own.
I loved the ending.
I would like to thank NetGalley, HarperCollins UK and Lucy Clarke for my ARC in return for my honest review.
Excellent read and highly recommended.
