About Heidi Perks
Heidi has always loved reading and writing. She fell in love with Enid Blyton and books like The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles.
In 1997 Heidi graduated from university and moved to London to begin a career in marketing. After three years she returned to her home town of Bournemouth where she lives with her husband and two children.
She was accepted onto the inaugural Curtis Brown Creative online Novel Writing Course, and that is when Heidi began writing Beneath The Surface. This was published by Red Door in March 2016.
Since then Heidi has published, ‘Now You See Her’. This is her third novel.
When a body is pulled out of an office fire, three women are first in line for questioning. All of them have reasons for wanting revenge against the company’s CEO.
It could be Laura, who has returned to work to find that her maternity cover isn’t leaving. The CEO insists he’s doing what’s best for the company. Laura isn’t convinced he’s telling the truth.
Or there’s Mia. Brought in as temporary cover for Laura, she has quickly made herself indispensable – and popular with her colleagues. But if people knew why she was so desperate to keep her job, they might not welcome her so freely.
Then there’s Janie, wife to the CEO, who gave up her courtroom career to support her husband and his business. She has her own secret to protect – and will go to any length to keep it safe.
They never thought it would come to this.
Heidi Perks is high up on my list of favourite authors and I was delighted to receive the ARC of ‘Three Perfect Liars’ in return for my honest review. Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK, Cornerstone and Heidi Perks for this opportunity. My full review will be published on 9th March when I will be taking part in the blog tour.
Harry Woods, owner of Woods and Moore, has his modern office block which overlooks Lymington Quay go up in flames. One person dies in the fire and another is seriously injured.
The story is told from the point of view of events leading up to the fire and interviews with the police of the employees after the fire and it soon becomes clear that there are undercurrents in all the relationships. The three main suspects to setting the fire are Laura, Mia and Janie.
Laura is a high-flying director in the company who has just returned from maternity leave with all the trials and tribulations that entails. Mia was Laura’s maternity replacement but has been offered a permanent position by Harry, against Laura’s better judgement, and appears to be trying to take over from her. Janie is Harry’s wife and her relationship with her husband seems to be under pressure.
The characters all have secrets and revealing these gradually as the crunch date of Harry and Janie’s party approaches leaves the reader wondering what will happen next. The numerous twists and turns ensured I was engrossed as I turned pages rapidly.
Another classy ending from Heidi Perks. Something I expect from her. Highly recommended.
